Spoiler Alert is a unreal throw in Fate 2, which was reintroduced to the spirited in August for Season of the Lost, and bears the description: "Someone is going to break." That's not terribly remarkable in itself—that's pretty much how Destiny 2 goes, aft all—merely this particular artillery's mien could be a sign of very bad newsworthiness forward for i of the game's major characters.

Spoiler Wakeful, therewith same description, was originally added to the game with the Destiny 2: Warmind DLC that went elastic in May 2018. Just a few months ulterior, in September, the Destiny 2: Forsaken expanding upon went live—and Cayde-6, the much-idolised Hunter Vanguard, went the other way. Despite my expectations, he has not returned, and his death is increasingly looking like a permanent developing.

That's portentous—maybe even ominous—merely it could also be a simple coincidence. Right? Well, no. In a confabulate with GamesRadar about the buildup to Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, senior narrative designer Nikko S. Smith Stevens very specifically pellet down that possibility.

"It's non a co-occurrence," Stevens said. "That's all I'll say."

Old narrative wind Julia Nardin was even less helpful, declining to comment happening the question in a flash.

It's possible that Zavala or Ikora, the remaining two-thirds of the original Destiny 2 Vanguard, could beryllium on the chopping block. But inside sources—by which I mean occupier Destiny auto Tim Clark—reckon that the quality campaigner is actually Osiris, the notorious Warlock who has played a polar role in the game's recent seasonal narrative. (Which, by the way, I'm told is so good that other live service games should cost taking notes.)

Recently, Osiris became the prisoner of Savathûn, the Beldame Queen, after his ghost, Sagira, was killed. (Perhaps in large piece because the voice doer Morena Baccarin was becoming cunning to nail down.)

Savathûn then old Osiris' mould to infiltrate City of London, detection happening the guardians and inveigling herself into their plans. That subterfuge was latterly revealed aside the returning Awoken Queen, Mara Sov, (delight preserve at the back), so the interrogative sentence now becomes whether Osiris is really being held captive, or whether atomic number 2's already dead. And if he has gone bye bye, IT's going to come equally a particular shock to his partner, the exo Saint-14.

IT's totally soapy stuff, but a lot of fun for the players, with fresh narrative nuggets doled out each workweek as part of a seasonal questline. Destiny 2 YouTuber, and quondam PC Gamer letter writer, Myellin Games breaks down the Osiris stuff below. And I'm afraid it's a pretty disillusioning argument he's a toast.

Other possible candidates for the axe let in Mara Sov and Crow/Uldren. Or it could whol live a large-mouthed misdirect. I'm bad sure I predicted the Lapplander thing about Cayde-6 in Forsaken, though, so I think this time close to I'll just wait quietly to see how it whol shakes out. Lot 2: The Witch Queen is slated to go live on February 22, 2022, simply don't preclude the generous twist landing ahead then as part of the ongoing season.
